UPDATE

WOAH! Does that foot belong to a 500 lb person or what? Someone even told me they thought it looked like a baby foot with the rolls and everything. The truth is, that is MY foot! Are you kidding me? I hate being swollen. As if being pregnant isn't uncomfortable enough, being swollen on top of it makes it even worse.

Well if you haven't heard yet, this swelling along with high blood pressure and protein has led me to be put on bed rest for the last 3 WEEKS! I meet with the doctor 2 times a week and get to do all sorts of fun tests and stuff. I have mild pre-eclampsia. It's pretty scary, but I really think that everything is going to be fine. I'm so grateful that it is just mild and that I did not have to be hospitalized. That would have been awful. As you could imagine I have been going crazy being all cooped up. I've had a few melt downs, but thank goodness for family and friends. It really helps to have support from them. My mom and Nate have been so so good to me. They help clean, in fact my house has never been cleaner. Nate even puts up with all my crazy food requests which include a bag of sonic ice every few days. As well as treats and candy that he hates getting for me, but is afraid to say no, for fear of how I may react. I've had good company too. It is so nice when people stop by and visit and even bring me food :) Thank you!!!

OK so the updates of all updates......

I'm getting induced this Wednesday April 22nd 2009. YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Winston will finally be here. I will be exactly 38 weeks. On Monday I got an ultrasound and the technician was so nice that when she was done doing the measurements and stuff, she put in on 3D so I could have a picture of him. It was so fun. Check him out. He is Nate's little clone. That is Nate's nose and lips for sure. He looks so peaceful and boyish. I'm so excited to meet him.

At the same time, I am so not ready for this. It's crazy the mixed emotions that you feel.
I'm cool with any and all advice. Please let me know if there is anything you wish you would have done or that you did. Any secret mommy or birthing tips?
Yes I'm getting the epidural and Yes I'm planing to breastfeed.

Congrats on getting induced. That is so exciting. I got induced with Hudson and I loved it! Wait...are you going to be 28 or 38 week when you get induced? On your post it says 28 weeks..just wondering. Good luck with everything. I know you will do great. You have nothing to worry about since you are getting the epideral. That thing is a lifesaver. My advice for you is you don't have to wait to get it..they will give the epideral to you as soon as you want it. Don't ask them just TELL them you want it and they will. And also...if you seem to still be feeling ANYTHING at all and the button that you push for more med in the epideral isn't working..don't hesitate to ask for more pain meds...and don;t wait for the bitter end to ask because then it will be too late. Good luck again!!! Let me know if you have any more questions. I can't wait to see pics of little Winston!!

Well at least your bed rest wasn't too long, I'm so excited for you! I've been wondering how you were doing, I finally ran across your blog. (I have a food blog, not a real one, but its fun) So I guess I can't get in real contact with you but for now this is good. I'm sure you'll have plenty of help but let me know in a few weeks and I'll bring you some food. Good luck with everything, you'll be fine. love you guys!

Regan, I am SO happy for you. I totally feel your pain as I was 210 lbs. the week before Isa was born and so swollen that I couldn't even bend my legs to sit down on the toilet! Aah, the things we endure for the sake of our children!

You said you were open to advice, and I could go on and on, and this will be longer than it should, but my advice is simply this. Have a priesthood blessing before you go to the hospital. Have faith in that blessing. Know that if the first induction does not work, that baby will eventually come out one way or another. If you are unable to breastfeed for whatever reason, know that there is nothing wrong with you and that it is ok. Know that this child is a gift from Heavenly Father and you have what it takes to raise him. Sometimes you will feel inadequate. Get on your knees and pray. Just as you are entitled to receive guidance and inspiration when you are set apart for a calling, you are entitled to those blessings as a mother. This will be the most exhausting, rewarding and important calling of your life. Seeking advice from others when you face difficulties is ok, as women, we need to talk about things (husbands, not so much). Ultimately, trust in the Lord and trust in yourself. And last but not least, you can never love a child too much. You can spoil them and unwittingly encourage undesireable behavior, but you can never love a child too much. It's okay if you don't want to do anything but hold that baby. It's okay if you want to rock him to sleep in your arms every night. There will come a time when he will not be content in your arms. That time will come faster than you will expect. Enjoy each moment. Don't focus so much on him meeting milestones that you miss the chance to savor where he's at. If I had to do it all over again, these are the simple truths I would live by. I wish someone had given me this advice instead of telling me to let them cry it out when they won't sleep, or for telling me how I should discipline them. I would love a whole lot more, laugh a whole lot more, take a whole lot more ibuprofen, and breathe a whole lot more.

Best wishes to you and Nate on your new addition. Welcome to your new life.

All my love,
Ali T.

If you had posted that pic and then said that the doc said that was normal I was gonna freak! Your poor swollen body! Tomorrow is the big day! It will be great- expect the swelling to get a little worse before it gets better (even after he's here)- Advice- just love him up and try not to fret about anything- he's gonna be your whole world for a while- you and Nate will be awesome! Good luck and you'll be in my prayers!

Whoa Reg, I had no idea you were on bed rest! I think if anything, having swollen feet like those little puppies in your picture will give you a huge appreciation for your normal good lookin ones:) Sorry you had to go through all that, but Im sure now that your sweet lil baby is here it was worth all of it. Hope you are feeling better soon seriously! You deserve all the Sonic ice in the world after that, and probably all the Bahama Bucks too! I just always think, if all these women keep having a ton of babies, then our memory of all the bad stuff must be very forgetful:) You'll be a great mom...Winston is going to be entertained his whole life! Soon I'll be next, Yikes!
